Blanche's diary entry

Dear Diary,

Today I saw a lovely young man who reminded me of my late husband. He was so..oh I shouldn't be thinking of him really its just..he's so young. So unlike me. Smooth skin. Athletic and able. Not one grey hair in sight. How I wish I was like him, in my day I had all of the men at the plantation knocking at my door hoping for a chance to go out with me, and now im stuck with Shep. Shep..reliable Shep. He'll do I guess, he can support me and my needs which is all I can hope to achieve at this point in my life.

All I can think about is the moment he kissed me though. His young fresh lips pressed upon mine, and then he was gone. As quickly as he appeared. After that Shep appeared so I guess I was pretty lucky that he left so quickly.
Shep bought me flowers, they weren't the type I used to recieve from all of the young rich admirors and nothing like the ones the boy gave me back from school, but they were nice enough. He makes me feel pretty and wanted again. I just need to make sure that Stanley doesnt ruin it with all of his lies. Lies. Lies. Lies. That's all they are.

  1. Well done Beth. This shows careful reading of the text and good overall understanding of the character. You need to continue working on Blanche's idiolect - particularly think about the lexis she uses. This will help you to further capture Blanche's voice. A great effort though and very promising. Don't forget to do the script work too - I look forward to reading that! Think carefully about how she constructs her sentences!
